Resources

At SSR, we deliver high-quality, ethically sourced porcine materials backed by standards, sustainable practices, and collaboration. This resource page provides answers to the most common questions about our capabilities. Whether you’re looking into research materials, or preparing full-scale commercialization, SSR is here to provide support and development from start to finish.

What sustainability practices do you follow?
We are committed to reducing our carbon emissions within our facilities, and to engaging with our partners and suppliers to reduce emissions throughout our value-chain. Furthermore, we are committed to more broadly pursuing efficiency and waste reduction strategies in our operations.
What's your minimum order quantities/pricing structure
We don’t have a minimum quantity order. We can produce as little or as much of a material as needed. Pricing is specific to the material and based on the specific customer requirements.
What certifications or standards do your products meet?
Our products meet multiple industry-recognized certifications and standards ensuring safety, quality, and ethical sourcing. SSR operates under FSIS and SQF certifications, maintains APHIS approval for EU exports, and holds FSNS certification for animal welfare and handling. All operations follow ISO, GMP, SOP, SSOP, and HACCP protocols, with sourcing from PQA+ certified suppliers to ensure full compliance and traceability throughout our process.
What makes your products different from competitors?
Our products are the highest quality standard due to our dedication, training, and expertise of our technicians

Many of our tissues are larger, stronger and contain more biologically active components because of being harvested from Sow which are larger than typical butcher pig

Tailored to the specific needs of each customer and processed in a dedicated customization center

How sustainable/ethical is your sourcing?
Our sourcing is highly sustainable and ethical. All porcine tissues come from PQA+ certified farms and USDA-inspected, SQF-certified Johnsonville facilities that follow strict animal welfare and sustainability standards. We operate under ISO 22442-2 compliance, ensure full traceability back to the source, and embrace a zero-waste philosophy. Read out blog on ethical considerations for more information.
How do you partner with clients?
We partner with clients at every stage of their development from research at a University to scale up to full commercialization. We personally engage in conversation and development to meet the needs of all our clients.
What are typical lead times and logistics/shipping?
A typical lead time is five to seven days for products that don’t require development. For new products, the lead time can vary depending on the amount of development/ingredients required. Once the product is established, the short lead time is in place.
What are common applications of your porcine materials?
Our porcine materials are used in multiple industries including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, pet applications and human consumption. In the life sciences, many materials enter the wound healing segment and enzyme supplementation. In the pet industry, materials are a source of nutrient rich food and enrichment and play.
